Competitive integrated employment refers to full or part-time work at minimum wage or higher, with wages and benefits similar to those without disabilities performing the same work, and fully integrated with co-workers without disabilities.
Employment is a way for people to achieve their personal dreams of success, respect and control of their lives. Having a job in the community is an important part of one’s self-identity and value in society and an essential element for self- determination for many people. Yet, individuals with disabilities have one of the highest unemployment rates in our country. Pennsylvania is committed to investing resources and providing opportunities to promote employment for all people with disabilities.
